What took this mill several weeks today takes 1-2 days

A mill’s journey from color frustrated to quick, safe and able to self-approve

Hundreds of the world’s leading dyes houses choose natific’s Color Accreditation Program (CAP) to cut out the common process of lab dip submission and to achieve straight to production privileges. natific randomly selects a mill within the CAP program to feature with a short interview. We also take this opportunity to welcome new and returning clients.

Deltagalil was frustrated by how their mill wasted weeks and dollars during the color development stage.

The mill used to send several color lab-dip submissions for approval for each shade to their brand and retail customers. For mills who follow the traditional color process, this is a common procedure.

In additional to this, Deltagalil stopped dyeing during production until they received approval for first bulk.

Every new color request took several weeks for Deltagalil. Today, it takes 1-2 days.

Deltagalil is a global company located in Israel with mass production in Egypt, Jordan, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Fareast (China, Thailand, Viet Nam and more). As soon as the management team at Deltagalil learned about the benefits of the CAP program they decided to sign up.

LET'S SPEAK TO DELTAGALIL AND FIND OUT HOW THE CAP PROGRAM SOLVED THEIR COSTLY ON-SITE CHALLENGES

natific: Let’s cut straight to the core, how did you overcome the frustrations you experienced in your color development?
Deltagalil: We signed up for natific’s Color Accreditation Program and did our first audit this year. The natific audit team give us many practical tips how we can improve on-site.

The most important accomplishments for us was training in our color development and dyestuff selection to meet fastness requirement, and to optimize the process. Right selection of dyestuff is the main key for production success.

The on-site and system training makes it possible for us to easily control our production color continuity, there is no more confusion.

natific: What was your big a-ha moment after you completed the first CAP audit?
Deltagalil: The time we save in our lab, it’s amazing! And the improvement we achieve in our color development and later in production is great, we do not need to wait for approval from our customer Under Armour.

Prior to the CAP, we sent first submission and waited for customer approval… today we can approve colors in 1- 2 days instead of weeks. If our other brand and retail customers would participate in the CAP program, this would be true also for them.

“Instead of sending physical samples to our
brand customer, we approve by our self.
This is less expensive and much faster.”

/ Deltagalil, Israel

natific: What is your favorite feature within the CAP program and why?
Deltagalil: Earlier, we never mixed different groups of dyestuff. Today after the CAP training we can mix and know that this will work very well in the production.

The natific team give us tips how to make better recipe and how to see if the given recipe is good enough or not. We learned to select combination for light, medium, and dark shades, and how to solve metameric issue. That was my favorite part of the CAP audit!

natific: That’s great to hear! What other implementations have you done that you believe our readers can benefit from?
Deltagalil: We learned many things that helps us save time and money. For example, natific had a good presentation how to check kinetics in fabrics, this alone help us to save time during dyeing. I’m sure many dyers don’t know about this.

natific: Before we move on, let’s go over "kinetic" together with our readers. (If you aren't a tech qeek or curious for details you might want to jump to next question :)
Kinetic is a word used in Polyamide dyeing. Depending on the Polyamide fiber spinning technique, the fiber’s kinetic may be different.

There are:

> Low oriented yarn (LOY), typically show a fiber kinetic of 1 or 2
> Medium oriented yarn (MOY), typically show a fiber kinetic of 3 or 4
> High oriented yarn (HOY), typically show a fiber kinetic of 5

One of the key issues in production scale-up is the fiber itself. The kinetic property of the polyamide fiber indicates dye uptake at a defined dyeing temperature.

For high oriented fibers you need more energy until the dyestuff starts exhausting into the fiber. In general, this gives much better wet-fastness properties.

For a low oriented yarn dyes exhausting quicker (low kinetic). However, easy in = easy out, i.e. poor wet fastness.

The fabric may show a tendency to dye at a low temperature making levelness a concern.

The “Polyamide Kinetic Dyeing Behavior Test” is used to determine the fiber properties. The dyestuffs required to meet wet fastness performance are directly related to the results of this test. Fibers with a higher dyeing kinetic normally yield higher wet fastness properties.

We recommends that mills consider the kinetic as a criterion for dye selection to optimize/meet fastness requirements.

Requirement for the fiber kinetic test are:
A) 7 samples of the polyamide material
B) One dye bath with 1.1% Nylosan Blue N-5GL 200 at pH 6
C) Reference Table

natific: Do you use the natific’s system the ColorWarehouse internally to monitor production accuracy and precision?
Deltagalil: We use the ColorWarehouse system to see results for all batches in the production. The plot curve in the ColorWarehouse makes it easy for us to localize and realize adjustment in the bulk production. We get better results by using ColorWarehouse.

natific: Do you use Master Digital Standards (qtx files) instead of physical samples?
Deltagalil: Yes, as much possible. The master qtx file is the best choice for us because we saw differences between same standard when using physical standards.

The digital master standard stay the same all the time, it will not change by storage, moisture or light. This makes it less confusing for everyone involved.

natific: Thank you for taking the time talking to us!
Deltagalil: Thank you!

We are happy to welcome below new and returning retailers, brands, vendors and mills as natific software and service clients. We are looking forward to our new and continued relationships.
