Practical tips #1: Avoid costly weighing errors
The scale in the dye-kitchen may cause unnecessary costs, time and pressure on nature. natific's auditors recommend dye houses to connect the scales in the dye-kitchen to a computer, or at least to a printer, so that the weighing of dyes can be checked.

We push for this because dye houses often record a costly weighing error per month. These errors also lead to friction between the laboratory staff and dye-kitchen operators.

Reported payback time: A dye house invested in a computerized bar code dyestuff weighing management system for USD 20 000. This was paid back only a few months later, together with happy dye-kitchen and laboratory staff.

Practical tips #2: How is your staining of multifiber?
This is often a big problem in exhaust dye-houses due to an uncontrolled reduction clear process.

By following natific's suggested reduction clear process, fastness properties (staining) can be improved by 0.5 – 2 points on polyester, polyester/cotton or polyester/viscose, and specially blends with spandex (elastan/lycra).

It's crucial to know how to use Sodium Hydrosulphite (Na2S2O4) correctly in the process. Following three factors are important to consider:
1. Temperature: Sodium hydrosulphite is only stable up to 80°C
2. Solution stability: Sodium hydrosulphite is unstable if mixed with water only
3. Air stability: Sodium hydrosulphite is decomposed (oxidized) by air
